About the Program:
No hotel experience needed to apply
Paid 3-week training at $21/hour
Week 1: Classroom training (36 hours) at San Diego College of Continuing Education, covering:
Food Handler Certification
Safety/OSHA training
Interviewing Skills/Resume
Soft Skills/Customer Service Skills
Weeks 2 & 3: On-the-job training at a unionized hotel partner for 2 weeks (40 hours per week).
Participants may be asked to interview and offered a job if the employer feels they are a good fit for the position.

About the Hotel Positions:
If accepted into the program, it is likely that you will be assigned to one of the following positions below*.
Please carefully read the physical requirements for each:
Room Attendant: On your feet most of the day, pulling carts (100lbs+), pushing carts (100lbs+), bending, lifting, making beds, vacuuming, and cleaning rooms/bathrooms.
Kitchen Steward: On your feet most of the day, pulling carts (100lbs - 200lbs), pushing carts (100lbs - 200lbs), bending, lifting, and cleaning/sanitizing kitchen equipment and utensils.
Banquet Steward/Set Up: on your feet most of the day, set up of event equipment (50lbs - 200lbs). Facilitate food service— clean tables, remove dirty dishes, replace soiled table linens, set tables, replenish supply of clean linens, silverware, glassware, and dishes.
*Position assignments are not limited to the list above and are subject to availability from our hotel partners. Candidates are required to have flexibility regarding their assignments.
